Friday + Sunday Night Socials

A long time home for our local dance scene, La Nacional is a fabulous place to hang and dance. Part of the vision of Express Track Blues is to share our home with you, and we are very excited to feature our favorite venue! We hope you'll enjoy it as much as we do!

La Nacional

Spanish Benevolent Society

239 West 14th Street, New York, NY

On the last Friday night of almost every month, the Blues Dance New York community celebrates with live music at La Nacional. Run by the Spanish Benevolent Society, La Nacional is located in the heart of Chelsea with a tapas restaurant on its lower level, and an event space on its upper level. The charming upper level is home to some of the most memorable nights in the history of New York’s blues dancing scene, including BDNY’s annual Community Jam. The lighting is intimate and warm, bringing dancers together as close as close embrace can be; the acoustics reverberate music into every corner of the venue, often extending outside to 14th Street. Possibly most important, the floor feels like stepping on a firm cloud with every dance move - which may be attributed to the number dances we’ve hosted there. The point is, everything about the venue is integral to our organization’s DNA and their benevolent staff welcomes us every month with open arms.

Because the folks at La Nacional love us so much, we encourage our regulars and visitors to support them in other ways. So while you're in town, here are extra ways you can help us support La Nacional:
  • Purchase food or drinks when you're at the evening dances for Express Track Blues.
  • Don't forget to tip your bartender!
  • Donate to the Spanish Benevolent Society.
  • Enjoy dinner at La Nacional Restaurant: As a community based restaurant, La Nacional Restaurant is meant to be a gathering place for everyone while offering quality food by Spain’s top chefs.

Saturday Night Social

Since 1999, this dance studio aims to provide the NYC dance community with an environment where we can learn, have fun, and have a sense of belonging.

You Should Be Dancing..!

Studios, NYC

37 West 26th Street 2nd Floor, New York, NY

You Should Be Dancing...! first opened September 1999. Their goal was to provide the NYC dance community with an environment where dancers can learn, have fun, and have a sense of belonging. YSBD believes that in order to achieve the rewards of dancing, it should be a pleasant learning experience in a modern, friendly atmosphere. Their teachers not only teach dancing, but show dancers how to practice on their own. YSBD students proceed at their own pace and have the option of learning in private or group settings with limited class sizes for best results. Each student is given personal counseling to make each step clear and easy. At You Should Be Dancing..!, dancers learn to lead or follow … no partner required.
